Post-operative Physiotherapy
Following surgery your surgeon will often recommend a course of physiotherapy. Orthopaedic surgery (surgery for bones, joints and muscles) is a highly complex and often invasive form of surgery. People who require surgery have often suffered for long periods of time prior to the operation leading to significant weakening/ deconditioning of surrounding muscles. The joints surrounding the operated area often stiffen as a result of surgery and require manual therapy and specific exercises to regain function.
All of the physiotherapy staff here at Brighton Beach Physiotherapy are highly trained in how to rehabilitate our post surgical patients.
Operations that usually require Physiotherapy include but are not limited to:
- Total hip and total knee replacement
- ACL reconstruction
- Lower back surgery
- Rotator cuff repair
- Sub acromial decompression (for bursitis)
- Surgical stabilisation of fractures
